System reliability is a top priority, but we cannot guarantee delivery of requested forecasts or that there will not be occasional error in the data. The forecasts rely on fresh data being available from NOAA. There are occasional down times that are beyond our control which may result in recieving dated data, the same data more than once or not getting the data.

Virtual Buoy predictions are not created from real time wave buoy data. Buoyweather is a specially designed computer program and distribution service that makes available to the general public the complex information collected and processed by NOAA, in a format suitable for simple Web and email systems. The NOAA data and predictions are regarded by many as the best available for maritime use, but predicting weather is an imperfect science and anyone receiving this information should assess and evaluate it, and also look for alternate information to confirm the predictions.

When you sign up and pay $29.95, you are buying 1 year access to buoyweather web site and/or a block of 365 email message credits. Accounts expire either when your message credits run out or in one year. Anytime you receive an email, one message credit is deducted from your account. This includes data forecasts, user guide components, buoy reports, NOAA text, and passage forecasts.

Examples:

What if you don't need the email services and only want the web site access? You do not have to use the email. Your account expires in one year.

What if you want two emails per day, one wave and one weather forecast? The account will expire in six months when the message credits run out.

What if your company owns four fishing vessels and they each need a daily forecast? From a single account, forecasts can be sent to any number of email address's. At four per day, the account would last three months.

Once you have an account, you can add to it when the credits get low or you are at the end of the year. If you add to your account before it expires, left over message credits are retained. Otherwise, you will need to re-subscribe and no rollover of un-used credits.

For your convenience, your subscription will automatically renew next year. You will be notified by email two weeks in advance of next years charge. It is very easy to cancell this by sending a note to customerservice@buoyweather.com.
